"A neon-vivid onslaught of rows upon rows of marshmallow rabbits (the kind you get
every Easter), Devil Bunnies series is alluring, curious, threatening ..."
"And he's constantly looking for new, vibrantly colored foodstuffs with which to create new pieces. When this man cracks open a box of Fruit Loops, he doesn't see breakfast, he sees his next masterpiece. Which would make him the ultimate cereal artist." |

I dyed my milk red.
My birthday cakes were green.
And orange.
And checkerboard.
I'd dye my cream of wheat purple.
I loved easter ... colored eggs!
I wanted BOO-BERRY cereal. My parents wouldn't buy it. Said it wasn't good for me.
They did buy my sister TRIX ... multi-colored puff balls of nutritious crunchy goodness.
Go figure.
My parents thought I was weird.
I was.
I still am.
I'm still fascinated with coloured food.
How do they dye cereal?
What do green eggs and ham taste like?
Blood oranges.
Purple sticky rice.
Blue M&M's.
Pink hearts, yellow moons, orange stars, green clovers, blue diamonds.
YUM.
It was only a matter of time before I'd begin creating works of art that included foodstuffs.
I think it's funny, the things people buy and eat.
I've seen ads promoting chicken nuggets in the shape of animal cartoon characters.
Have you noticed that the white filling in Oreo cookies now comes in various colors?
Red for christmas, orange for Halloween and sky blue centers for spring!
We (well, most of the public at large anyway)
will buy and eat pretty much anything manufacturers produce and sell;
no matter what color, texture, or shape.
And I take advantage of it ...

Fruit Loops, Fruity Pebbles, Trix ... just to name a few.
Brightly coloured and funky shaped. All part of a complete breakfast.
Yes, this is what parents are feeding their kids!
I'm often asked what kind of paint I used on the cereal.
I reply: "I didn't paint these at all. That's how the cereal comes right out of the box."
