INTRODUCTION
Washington Project for the Arts\Corcoran (WPA\C) is an independent, non-profit 501 c(3) organization whose mission
is to promote excellence in contemporary art in the region by presenting experimental exhibitions and performances, stimulating
dialogue between emerging and established artists, and involving artists in educational programs that
benefit local residents.
Based here in Washington DC, the organization holds an annual fundraiser. In March 2003 I was asked to participate in their Centerpiece Project for "SELECT, the WPA\C 2003 Auction & Gala". Local artists are selected, based on creative merit, to create a work of art to be featured at each table during the auction dinner. Works are donated and then are auctioned off during the evening. I created a PEEPS centerpiece. A wooden lazy-susan was stacked with Chicks, Bunnies and Hearts. The chicks are spray-painted yellow and coated with glitter. The hearts are spray-painted red and the bunnies pink. The entire piece is 12" round by 24" high. |
